[about halfway to going for the liquor, pauses.] ...Nothing you need to be concerned with at your age.
[remember how Luke doesn't drink? yeah, he's about halfway to ignoring that factor. leans backward a little]
... *buries her face in the back of his shirt, holding onto it tightly.* ...'m sorry..
You didn't force me to do anything. I knew better and yet I still did it.
[moves a shaky hand toward one of various long-necked bottles of liquors]
It's the truth. *swats his hand away gently and reaches for a different bottle.*
[sinks backward a little, trying to slide to a seated position]
She has no reason to hate you. *sinks down to the floor with him, still nestled against his back.*
[starts to shake pretty steadily]
*hugs him tighter, trying to ease his shaking.* You're one of the most honest, genuinely kind people here. You didn't even sleep with someone else! What the hell does she have to be upset about?
[really, that only makes it worse.]
*more shaking, more hugs. a vicious cycle.* ...sorry. I'm just going by what I know.. You can do it, Luke. You're strong enough to get past this.
[curls up in her grasp, trying not to hyperventilate]
You mess up, you mess up. That's life. It's a series of mistakes that are intended to teach you. Just don't end up like me. *uncorks the bottle she took, holding it up for him. bubbly champagne~*
[has shifted so he's sort of clinging to her, if halfheartedly]
*sets the bottle aside to hug him better.* I can stay with you until you do fall asleep, if you want.
[he's still shaking pretty badly, but he appears to be trying to calm down, at least.]
It doesn't work that way. If that happened, we'd never get anywhere in life.
[mumbles something, pressing his face into the nearest part of her]
*gently pets his hair, tilting her head a bit.* Hmm?
[shifts, raising his voice but still speaking quietly]
..then you learn. As long as you put forth the effort, you can change.
