[ guess who found a lighter? if you answered Luke, you're correct. unfortunately, your only prize is a brooding redhead on a bench outside, his eyes closed and a handful of cigarette butts at his feet. he's currently burning through his fourth. ]

*what is this? WHAT IS THIS!?* I don't recall ever allowing you to smoke.

... [ yeah, he actually feels kind of bad for Mama Fabre catching him like this. regardless, he casts his eyes to the side with a light shrug and takes another drag. he's kind enough to blow the smoke away from her. ] Sorry, mom.

*frowns. Mother still does not approve of this* Must you...?

... [ drops the remaining half of his cigarette and puts it out it with his shoe ]

...*mother will play with his hair for a little now* What's wrong, dear?

[ considers the stomped out cigarette for a while before turning to look at her ] ... It's kind of a long story.

Well I have all the time in the world while I'm here. I'm willing to listen if you're willing to tell me.

..... *hope Luke likes headaches, because Asch is going to nail the idiot for all he's worth in the back of the head with his fist.*

[ gives her a sort of hopeless look, smiling faintly and shaking his head. he scoots over on the bench, patting the planks beside him ] Sit, then.

[ which results in the cigarette between his lips falling, a belated screech of pain from Luke, and him getting up from the bench to glare through the stars dancing around his head. ] What the h-- [ belatedly sees who it is and clamps his mouth shut, still half-assedly glaring ]

*grabs him by the front of his shirt and give him a shake.* You know what the hell it is, dreck! I didn't give them back to you so you could chain-smoke the damn things!

... [ calmly pries himself away from Asch's grip ] Don't you have someone else you should be more worried about?

No, I do not. You're the only one I know who's actively out to kill himself! *starts routing through Luke's clothing, searching for any remaining cigarettes.*

I told you before, these aren't going to kill me any faster than anything else would. [ just kind of lets him root. the pack is in his back pocket. ]

*he'll be commandeering that, along with the lighter before shoving Luke back down onto the bench.* I just might.

[ that is also something Luke does not plan to tell him unless he winds up in a situation where he has to use it. ] There are considerably quicker methods if I were suicidal. You of all people should know how much death terrifies me. I'd want it quicker than dying slowly because of lung cancer.
