[Have Guy working about in the kitchen, cooking up who knows what. The smells of grilled meat and oven baked compliments fill the area, as clashes of pans and pots can be heard as he works on assortments of the meal. He's completely silent, cooking idly as if his mind were set on something else. Come give him a hand!]

Luke! Hey. What are you doing around here?
no subject
Same thing most people do in a kitchen: getting something to eat. What is it you're fixing?
no subject
[He chuckles, looking down at the spices he's sautéing with some vegetables.]
Steak au poivre.. with green beans and baked potatoes. Want to try it later?
no subject
Eh? Steak au whatta? I got the steak part, but what's the por.. poi.. that last bit mean? I'm not sure I want to say yes until I know what it is you're trying to feed me.
no subject
Peppered. It's cooked with peppercorn so the flavor is mixed with the steak.
... You wouldn't eat it if didn't tell you what it was? Thats a new take on things. Did something happen recently?
no subject
[ Luke shifts from foot to foot, grinning. ]
It's not that anything happened. If the ingredients you start with aren't appealing, I doubt even your cooking skills could make it edible, you know?
no subject
[He nods, acknowledging Luke's statement. When did Luke get so observational?]
You could say that, I guess. But you never know what sort of variations can make something good, when its usually not.
no subject
[ It wasn't an overnight change, that's for certain. Head tilted to the side, Luke almost seems to be sizing the blonde up. ]
There's nothing in this world that could make carrots taste like anything other than dirt, and adding them to things only make it worse.
no subject
Wow, you hate carrots that much? Well... I'm not one for it much, but I don't mind it. I promise there are no carrots in the dish I'm making.
Speaking of, its almost done. [Guy returns tending to the pan with steak and peppercorn, and checks the potatoes in the oven.]

You sure you don't mind sharing with me? It's not as though I'm starving. [ Luke sort of leans against Guy's shoulder while watching him cook. ]
no subject
[Guy just smiles and lets Luke watch. He adds a small cup of red wine to the cooking steak, and turning off the fire to the frying vegetables.]
Of course I don't mind. I've made more than enough. Could you get us some plates and forks right over there? The steak is just finishing.
no subject
[ His request is acknowledged with a nod, and soon enough the needed dishes along with silverware are laid out almost neatly for the meal. ]
One of these days I'm going to have to get you to teach me how to cook something without turning it black.
no subject
[Guy snickers mischievously, pulling the pan over the plates and flipping the steaks right onto them, then taking the green beans and sliding them right next to the meat.]
But yeah. If you're really set on learning, I don't see why not.
[He then takes out the final part of the meal from the oven, and placing a potato on each plate.]
Voila! I hope you enjoy it.

[ Luke scowls for a moment and elbows him in the side, careful to not make him drop anything. Losing dinner after all this talk about good food would suck. ]
Thanks for putting up with me, Guy.
no subject
[He chuckles, shaking his head.] I'm just messing with you, Luke. It's good you want to learn. It's a good skill for anyone to have.
[Guy tips over a bit after being elbowed, but regains his balance. After turning off the stove and oven, he walks over to the set meals and has a seat.]
...It was never a problem, Luke. You're welcome.
no subject
I know are. [ Luke grins, hurrying to grab them both something to drink before flopping into the chair across from Guy and offering him one of the glasses. ]
Have you been here long? You seem pretty at home.
no subject
No.. I haven't been here long. I'm just keeping my mind at ease if I were to do something busy like cooking.
It paid off.. I have someone to chat with over dinner.
no subject
[ Luke gives him a playful grin, waving a fork around. ]
Heh. It worked out for both us. Now I have a new friend to pester!
no subject
[Guy returns the smile, and holds up the drink for a toast.]
Sounds good to me! To our friendship?
no subject
[ So formal! It's almost embarrassing, but Luke mirrors the gesture and taps their glasses lightly. ]
To our friendship, and all the good times ahead!
no subject
[Guy pulls back the drink after the toast and takes a sip. It all still feels like home.]
So what about you, Luke? You've been here a while?
no subject
[ Leaning forward, Luke gives him a light poke to the forehead. ]
A long while. It's almost been a year for me.
no subject
...Great.
Thanks.
[He forks the steak firmly and takes a bite out of it. Omnomnom.]

Take it easy. This place had probably gotten you shaken up in the past?
