[Well hello there, ADR, there's a new Luke out and about. Though this Luke is drastically different from your typical replica, if the partial bone mask on the left side of his face is any indication. Stare at it all you want, he wont pay you the time of day unless you actually say something. His nose is buried in a notebook he's balancing in one hand, and scribbling away furiously at with another, murmuring to himself as he writes.]

...similar atmospheric composition to Earth. Obvious support of carbon-based life forms, though surprisingly little established settlements...

[ Having been permitted this much, Asch brushes a hand through Luke's hair to the tips of his rattail. ]

....I understand, yet that is a shame. The contrast between both skin and bone is intriguing, and suits you surprisingly well. Your safety comes first however.

[Luke shifted uncomfortably. E-enough about how he looked. Topic change!]

The remains of a bone mask is normal of all Arrancar, though they are actual masks, unlike my own. Master suspects that it is a result of fusing with human DNA; as Hollows consume human souls, the Arrancar in me is trying to consume that which is human.

[ He can't help it; Luke vaguely reminds him of his own replica. Asch's scowl returns at the mention of being consumed. Looks like that gut feeling of his was right. ]

So it protects you in exchange for devouring your soul. Hardly a fair trade no matter how you look at it. Does your master realize that by not stopping the process, he may well end up losing his greatest asset?

If it comes to that, master will react accordingly. It will not be the first time he has conducted experiments on my body, nor will it by the last.

It will not end until you decide to cease being a groveling toy and begin taking responsibility for your own actions once again.

That is not an option. I am forever indebted to Szayel Aporro-sama. As I said, returning his many gifts with my loyalty is the least I can do.

[ Asch sighs, massaging a temple. ]

That is your choice. Though I would not find eternal servitude to be a gift.

[He trailed off, glancing down at his notes. On one hand, he was sure Szayel Aporro-sama would have loved the data on this unusual Asch. On the other... he almost didn't want to give it to him... He grimaced privately; it had to be because of his feeble human emotions. It was the only explanation.]

Of course he does. It is that much left he has to do himself. You are nothing more than a simple convenience to him.

[ Their chat had began to give Asch a headache along with making him irritable, as displayed by those annoying damned wings poofing up and giving a noisy flutter. Luke's statement drew his attention -- the replica's statements were usually so certain. Leaving it hanging like that meant something was up. ]

[Luke gathered himself, closing his notebook and returning it to his belt, not looking up at Asch.]

...I don't expect you to understand.

[ Asch chuckled darkly as he gazed down a one of his gloved hands, muttering to himself. ]

I understand far too well... Luke.

[He flinched slightly; he believed himself to be and called himself "Luke", but he was so used to merely being referred to as "fracción" that it felt weird being addressed by name.]

[ Of course. Those in a place of power were "master" while those who served were called various names meant to keep it impersonal and prevent attachment. He had not referred to Van as Master for nothing. ]

...did you wish more information?

[Takes out his notebook and pen again]

[ Hm. The replica was quite passionate about recording things. He'd have to keep that in mind. ]

My wings are grafted directly to my nervous system, making them overly sensitive to outside stimulus.

[Of course; unfortunately, he still was a little forgetful. It was a fact that rather irked his master, as it was not something he could easily solve except with a lot of writing.]

Do you know any other particulars of this procedure? Were you conscious during it?

[ Another trait Asch found to be more endearing than annoying in the replicas. It was less of a bother than their incessant need to apologize. ]

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I was not conscious for more than a few moments. What stands out most in my mind is how my hand continued to twitch while I heard them working.

Hm... a typical response, considering what they were attaching these wings to, though no less disturbing to someone not expecting it.

[A pause.]

This... was something you submitted to willingly? [Guessing not, but...]

It was horrifying and yet oddly fascinating to watch, really. I do not know what anesthetic they used to keep my entire body numb throughout, but it was effective.

[ Luke made him laugh, if nothing else. ] Hell no. Those they altered were all taken against their will and subjected to their whim of the week.

Hmn... [More to himself than to Asch] If it were a short procedure, I could understand Etomidate, but it most likely wasn't... Propofol perhaps, or perhaps a new drug...

[Scribbles all of this information down.]

I gathered as much... [pauses his writing a moment] A week, hmn... was this the only operation performed on you?

[ He has to admit; the replica has become capable of using that empty head of his quite nicely. ]

That I am aware of, yes. The entire purpose of the kidnapping was to undergo this one procedure for the wings.

[Damn right; he has smarts now. :|]

Do these wings have an actual function? Are you capable of flight?

[ In exchange for his moral compass. :| ]

They aid in the casting of magic and permit me to glide several inches above the ground, but that is the extent of their use.

[Morals? What's that?]

Would you permit me an example of this 'magic' enhancement?
