There will always be Tear and the others to stop you if we can't.

That's where you're mistaken; pawns might start off as such, but they can grow to become a piece with a potential greater than you. Not to mention you have no right to punish me.

[ Braces to block his blow. ] Your so-called power is only a wish! We're the ones who were given Lorelei's true strength!

What can Mystearica accomplish alone? Without the Key of Lorelei, anything the others could do is hopeless!

Pawns are meant to be used. Their only potential is that which their master gives them! [jumps backwards, firing a Demon Fang as he does] You cannot resist me, Luke. Give in to my strength!

She's capable of more than you can imagine. You should have more faith in her.

[ Sidesteps, countering with the same arte. ] In your dreams! There's only one person I give into and you aren't him! He's given me plenty of reasons to stop you as many times as it takes!

She's still incapable of stopping me. ...and faith? I have lost faith in most things...

[Going back in for the close-quarters combat now, swinging his sword downwards in a vertical fashion]

There's your problem! If you gave this world another chance, you'd see what good it has to offer.

[ Luke guards with the blunt side of the sword and aims a well placed kick at Van's midsection. ]

A world with the Score is not a world that should be given another chance. Do you not understand that?!

Oof! [reels from the kick, propping himself on his sword for a moment, before jumping back] Hn... you learned well.

Who's the one bound more to the Score?! Me, who's living my life despite it, or you who's obsessing over it more than anyone else?

[ Takes that pause for a breather, redoing the hair that slipped from the ponytail holder. ] Thanks, for what it's worth. Hard to believe I haven't been getting much practice in.

One who is not in the Score is not bound to it in the same way... But to all others, it is a calamitous portent of the future that must end now!

[Stands straight once again] ...I see I underestimated you. But is it worth my true power...?

None of us are, Van... By insisting on killing everyone, that's causing more harm than the Score would. The Score's been proven wrong several times over!

I won't let you kill me and ruin the peace we've made for ourselves here, so just give it up. [ Glares and takes a step back. ]

But people still act based on its words. I've said this before- the Score is a drug. No matter how many times it is proved wrong, the masses are incapable of severing their connections to it!

...For now, you shall get your wish. There are other matters to attend to- your death can wait.

Then we can get the Scorers to stop reading what's written and just give advice. Or they can slowly advise people to think for themselves! It won't happen overnight, but we can wean the off the Score!

[ Gives him a skeptical look, relaxing somewhat. ] ...what else do plan on doing here?

Speaking to those I have grown distant from one last time.

Why make it the last? Why not give everything another chance and see for yourself if people can change? ...you might even discover things you never thought possible.
