[There's a Guy sitting against a tree, wearing his best "I'm staring off into space" face. He's very deep in thought; Poke him?]

Then.. do mind if I ask why I upset you? [ It's tempting to pout at being treated like a kid, and yet it was too much of a comfort. ]

[A pause. Then he tries wiping his face with a sad little smile ] It's lonely being a servant without a master.

Huh? [ Guy's answer is met with a puzzled look. Without really meaning to, Luke's head tilts to the side. ] Where's the me you know?

That...doesn't really matter, now, does it? [ Saying that for the sake of some poor Luke. Surely, he wouldn't want to hear about his future, if he was from an earlier point]

[ Quite the contrary, Luke props his arm up on a knee and gives Guy a knowing smile. ] ...did yours beat Master Van too?

[ Luke's words get an interesting reaction out of Guy. For the first few seconds, all he can do is stare at him. Then, he grins ]

Of course he did. He had me as backup, after all. It would have been pretty silly if he hadn't.

[ Luke returns the grin in full force, laughing. ]

I should have know as much. You're always there for whenever I need you, like always. Hope he didn't make you do all the work.

[ He shrugs ]

Well, to be honest, he did get lazy at one point. But again, he is used to being the center of attention, so he went right back in there, trying to steal the spotlight.

Hah... You make it sound like my efforts to try my hardest are nothing but a kid's attempt to have everyone watching him. I'm not that stuck up. ..not so much, anyways.

[ Guy laughs, but...at the same time he's feeling a bit overwhelmed. He has no way to know if this is the Luke he knows, and that kills him. ]

[ Luke on the other hand is just happy to have Guy to talk with -- one that knows everything that has happened, no less. ] ...ran off my mouth again, didn't I?

Wouldn't be you if you didn't.

I just... [ He tries to smile; He also tries to tell Luke what he's thinking, but he chokes on his own words. ]

I'd be a weird me, that's for sure.

[ That's more than enough for Luke to set his snack aside and throw his arms around Guy's neck. He can't stand to see his best friend so damned upset over him. ] Hey. I made a promise. So just hang in there until I can keep it.

[ If Guy's voice sounds a little broken, that's just your imagination Luke. And those couple of water drops are also not real.] I told you, it's lonely being a servant without a master.

I know... And I'm sorry. [ Now it's Luke's turn to ruffle Guy's hair. ] If you want, I can lend you to Natalia.

Hah...I think I'll pass, for now.

[ A pause. He finally ventures to ask, while he sounds hopeful, he's also ready to be disappointed. Or so he thinks. ] So...Are you the Luke I know?

That's the smart thing to do.

[ He's quiet as he sits back on his heels, careful to avoid looking Guy in the face. ] ...I kind of want to say yes, so you'll stop being sad, but.. I don't know. Everything from around the time we fought Master Van is hazy.

[ Guy nods. Man, that felt like a blow to the chest...guess he wasn't ready for that. ]

S-sorry.. I mean, I still could be... I just don't know.

[ He was being a fool. He hadn't meant to make Luke upset, he never had. He knew he couldn't keep being the emotional mess he was being now, so he did what he did best. Smile, even if it was a bit forced. Placing a hand on Luke's shoulder for a moment, Guy slipped a finger beneath his choker. Except his choker was missing the little gold coin that always adorned it ] That brat. When we were parting, I quickly gave him the ornament that went here. I told him that he had better come home, and that I wouldn't forgive him if he just disappeared. He was supposed to give that back to me, you know? I wonder if he ever got the hint that he was supposed to.
