[Hey look, it's a new redhead. Not an especially unique one, compared to his many counterparts, but at least it's easy to tell he's never been here before. Suddenly transporting one from a mountain path to the edge of a town isn't a nice thing to do without warning.]

What the hell just happened? Where did everyone go? Tear, Guy...Anise?

[Okay, so he's been kind of a jerk to his party, but he wasn't expecting them to leave.]

This isn't funny guys, you can't just abandon me!

[No response. He huffs, scowling, then stomps off to go find answers.]

[It was around then Anise saw Luke huffing and stomping around. She paused, heels clicking decisively against the ground as she took into consideration the situation at hand.

She then did an about face, maybe Luke wouldn't have noticed her...

...Maybe she should walk faster...]

[Nnope! You've been spotted, Anise. But this Luke doesn't recognize you, because the Anise he knows is smaller.]

Hey! Hey lady, could you tell me what town this is?

[Anise freezes, sighing softly at being caught before turning around to face Luke. Don't mind that slightly strained smile.]

Well, this town is nothing like you really know, but has everything you do know in it...As for a name, apparently no one believes in voting thus there isn't one.

[Perhaps that should be her next campaign...]

[What.

'Nothing like you know, but has everything you do know'? Just...what.]

That...makes no sense at all. What about the country? Whose land is it on?

Dunno, but it's definitely not Malkuth, Kimlasca-Lanvaldear, or Daath. There's rulers here but no rule over the people.

...What? It's not ruled by anyone and no one's tried to claim the land yet?

Well, there's so much mixed citizenship here it would be hard for a ruler to claim it.

Plus the law really just keeps itself for the most part.

[Somewhere in the midst of Luke's stomping grounds, said redhead may notice this guy here, leaning over a bench with a screwdriver clutched in one hand, and the other holding a fonic device firmly in place.]

That's right, just a bit more...there! It's perfect.

[Guy picks up the device and gives it a thorough lookover, making sure there aren't any loose components ~~and looking maybe a little too excited about it~~.]

Not too shabby at all. [At this point a peripheral movement finally attracts his attention and he turns his head. Is that...?]

Hey, Luke! [He's waving at you, Ambassador.]

[Hey look, a familiar face. Also fontech ping. He notices the friend first, but then is distracted by whatever the device is.]

Guy! I've been looking everywhere for you! Where's everyone else? And what's that?

[And can he touch it? He wants to touch it.]

[A flicker of confusion passes across Guy's face before returning to an easygoing (and hopefully reassuring) smile.]

You mean this? [He holds the device out so Luke can see. Handling's fine too, as long as the redhead doesn't go and break it.] It's a project I'm working on for Jade. Apparently they're doing research to measure local fonon levels.

[He studies Luke for a moment. To be honest, he hasn't seen him like this in a while.]

As for your first question, that might take some explaining...

[He'll take it, turning it over carefully to examine it, pausing whenever Guy mentions Jade.]

And since when were you two working on anything? Did I miss something or are you doing this behind everyone's backs?

[Well, what does he have to lose? Guy raises his hands in defeat and decides to plunge ahead at Luke's request.]

Nah, it's nothing like that. Jade and I know each other pretty well by now...about as well as Jade Curtiss lets a person know him anyway.

See, that's the thing. This town's kind of special, and the people come from all over. But I'm not talking just distances; there are people from the past and future here, too.

[Guy glances back at Luke to see how he's taking this or how soon he can expect an outburst of disbelief. He's pretty confident it's going to happen any time now.]

And that's why I can't tell you where everyone else is. They weren't missing when I arrived, but once I did, I was by myself. The same thing happened with you, didn't it, Luke?

...Yeah, I got here by myself. I thought that...cheagle thing would be with me, at least.

[Not that he really wants it, but still]

And what you said makes no sense whatsoever. How can you have people from the past and the future in the same place? It's not possible.

Well, Mieu could be here somewhere if you want to go looking for him, or he might still be back where you came from.

It's hard to believe. [He gets that. It's amazing and incredible. And unbelievable.]

Unfortunately I don't know all the hows or whys. But I do know it's possible. For starters, last time we saw each other, you'd cut your hair and had a different sword on you.

[Guy knows better than to start dropping plot spoilers, at least.] It's been about a year now since we started our journey.

[Mieu, right. That was the name.]

No, then he'll start following me around again.

...I cut my hair? Did Anise keep trying to braid it or something stupid?

[He'd considered that before, but had never managed to actually go through with it. Wonder if his mother was disappointed in his apparent future-self's new hair. By the way, here's your machine back, Guy.]

Poor Mieu... [He almost feels bad for the little guy, given how hard and enthusiastically he tries to help.]

[Guy takes back the machine and carefully tucks it under one arm.]

Yeah. You cut it when you decided to turn over a new leaf, so to speak.

[Guy shrugs.] But I think it'd be best if you figured that one out for yourself. Just know when the time comes, you won't have to get through it alone.

Anyway, what's your plan? Still trying to find everyone else?
