[for whatever reason, Luke has decided it would be Good Times to climb a tree and recline on a branch. he's humming softy, should anyone happen by.]

[chuckles, offering his hand to help you]

[scowls at it, but takes it]

[smiles softly, helping him up.] Funny you should mention Icicle Rain. Knocked you out silly when we first encounter each other.

A lot was going on, and I wasn't really prepared to be attacked by a blizzard from some tabard-wearing nutcase. [leans on him, pointedly]

Excuse me? You were the enemy at the time, and that attack was suppose to kill you.

Oh I was the enemy? You were the one following Van's crazy plan! And hah! You can't kill me!

tch, I was trying to kill you to make sure Van didn't get what he wanted! You wouldn't know that, while I was keeping my cover. Besides, you were the one who got mad at one point because I wasn't listening to dear ol "Master".

And without anyone to tell me different, how was I supposed to know? The bastard used me, because he knew I thrived on praise and being treated like a son. ... [huffs, moving away and shedding his coat, wringing the water out of it] What the hell would you have expected me to do?

He's very good at taking advantage of other's needs and twisting it, I wouldn't have expected any different from the way you acted.[takes off his cloak and comes over and places it on your head, to dry your hair] Who was I to try and change you when you had gone in so deep into Van's illusions? There was no other option but to kill you.

[he sounds distinctly more upset about this than he'd like to let on]

...[pats your head] Van's dead. It's over now and there are people who really do want you, like mother and father. Even if you are a replica, they love you like a son and that's no illusion.

[moves away, rubbing his hands over his face in irritation] Don't you think I know that? It doesn't change the fact that every time I wake up in the morning and realize I don't belong it hurts like hell! Do you have any idea how much I'd like to be you? I don't even know my own birthday! [ranting? why yes.]

You belong with us as much as I am! And stop thinking so little of yourself. Everyone accepted the person that you are, not base on your birth and who you're not. Why should this all still matter to you?

And you do have a birthday, idiot. Regardless of how you were born, you started living on that day.

[pinches the bridge of his nose] I don't know, okay? I don't know. I'm just... tired, or something. He was here, and I'm tired of fighting but he's still the same bastard he always was and I don't want him to be. [scowls, shaking his head]

... sorry. I shouldn't have shouted.

...It's all right. [he?...oh] There's nothing you can do for that man. His home was destroyed because the Score said it would happen. I can see why he would go so far as to try and destroy the orignal world after what happened to Hod. It is difficult to convince someone who has lost so much to see things the way we see it.

...Guy lived on Hod, too. He lost everything. Van couldn't even stop to consider that he was lucky, in the scheme of it all. [gonna lean on you now.]

[wraps an arm around you]

[sighs, quietly pulling you into a hug]

[just leans for a while before returning the gesture, staying quiet]

[his voice suddenly sounded almost tired and worn]

[moves away, startled] [reaches out to tug on his hair a little]

[he's a little...wet from hugging, forgetting he did just soak Luke and smiles reassuringly]
