Were my beard not pointy and my sideburns not jagged, it would not be powerful in the slightest.

Then I'll keep it pointy and stuff!

Perhaps, although many have tried and been overwhelmed by the power.

However, the shape doesn't matter entirely as long as it's pointed- for example, you would probably be able to have it be long and skinny and use it as a rapier.
