[He's drawing something into the ground with the end of his staff, humming to himself as he does so. Every now and then, he pauses, tilting his head and letting his humming die away to assess his progress before he starts drawing again.]

But if one person out of one hundred dies here... then, if we had the same amount of people here as there were in Auldrant, who's to say that it wouldn't keep going at that pace? And suddenly it's ten dead... then one hundred... then one thousand...
