[Clearly, redheads have never been in short supply here.
As a result of this fact, seeing Asch sitting at a table with that smug "I'm better than you" look of his shouldn't really take too many people by surprise. Oh, sure, the lack of any discernible agitation is probably a little disconcerting as is the presence of a deck of playing cards set upon the table within easy reach of his right hand. Of course, this Asch is a little different from most, missing anger notwithstanding; it isn't too hard to tell he is a fair bit older, somewhere within his early-to-mid twenties.
Regardless, he is Asch. And he? He is challenging you to a game of poker.
Ready to try your luck?]

swallowfury, Asch here is definitely not reset, so he retains any CR he had from the last time I was around a couple years back. Of course, he's not going to come out and just let you know who he is; he feels like being a bit of a jerk, so even if you do know him, he's going to leave you guessing. Especially. If you're a certain replica. Why? Because he can. And, no, he's not going to deal cards to kids. But he might go into papa mode on them.]

...Interesting.]
I'm afraid I have no gald to wager regardless. You see, the place where I was prior is much like this one - where items come free of charge. However, money never meant much to me, you see. ...Information, on the other hand, I find rather valuable. [He pushes up his glasses, and...cue glint.] If I win this little game, I'd like the opportunity to have a look at you, Asch. You've clearly survived beyond my expectations.

[In truth, it probably wasn't a horrible idea to let someone take a look; he never did bother to get himself checked out after everything. And really, ego and over-the-top personality aside, Asch does have to admit Dist does know what he's doing. Even if he'll never admit it out loud.]

...Understood. Deal the cards, if you would be so kind.

Mhm... [Dist looks over his hand, keeping his face marvelously straight. ...It wasn't a good hand, but hopefully he'd get something better once he drew. Which he will do now and--
God. Damnit. Why did he agree to playing this stupid game again?]

[Because he wanted information and everyone knows Asch doesn't just answer questions, even if he's mellowed out over the past few years.
At least Dist can keep a poker face; that's better than a lot of the people he's played against recently
and definitely better than Luke, lol. Asch, meanwhile, glances at his own cards before lining them into a small pile again, also keeping his expression impassive; with the bottom card facing himself, he taps a corner of the five-card pile on the table.]no subject
[Dist removes a few of his cards - keeping the only pair he had and a card of the matching suit - and drew two new cards. Hm, a little bit better, but not good enough. He pushes up his glasses again, though much more casually than before, and leans back lazily.
Your move, Asch.]

[Asch taps the corner of his cards on the table once more before looking at them again; he removes three and draws three new ones.]

[Dist looks up as he removes only one card and draws a new one. ...Damn, not one he wanted.]

And Asch will stay on his hand.] Player shows first.

[Dist sighed. Honestly, some things never changed. Asch was always a stubborn idiot, rushing into things with sword drawn and trumpets blaring. ...What an idiot. Though at his request, Dist put down his hand. One pair, that was it.]
I'm afraid Poker isn't exactly a game I'm well versed in.

I assumed as much. For whatever you may be, you never struck me as a gambler.

[Dist frowns when he sees that he's lost, and sighs, leaning back in his chair again.] You're correct. Such things never interested me, though a good game of Black Jack is something I've found my talent toward. Not for gambling, but for the skill involved, if one is smart enough to understand the mathematics involved.

[Asch can't help but smirk at Dist's disappointment; he may have matured and mellowed out, but he's still a jerk who finds amusement in these things.] Hm. I guess that makes sense.
[He rests his arms on the table, leaning forward slightly.] Regardless, I may just take you up on that offer from earlier after all. It'd benefit us both, though for different reasons.

The Keterburg hotel event does not count. He forcibly removed that from his memory. 8|bEither way, Dist gives Asch a long glance - almost disbelieving how...agreeable he was being, then raised a brow suddenly as his wings gave a slight twitch.]We? Then you and your replica are both present here? Well then, that makes things much easier for me, doesn't it? Though I honestly am surprised neither one of you has died, yet. It's quite a shock.
[Blunt and cruel as ever...]

...fonon separation due to eliminating the miasma.

Yet I have to wonder how it is that you're both still alive. I have a few theories, but none seem plausible enough, given that you are both two separate entities, correct?

Lorelei? ...I see. It does seem to make sense, given with what you say and my own knowledge of the seventh fonon. [But the sentience of the seventh fonon, to grant a wish of that nature...to bring someone back.] ...What of the boy's memories, were they in tact? Did he retain them?
[...Oh. There it was. A consequence of playing god. Dist's eyes narrow, and his voice becomes cold and serious.] What exactly are you saying, Asch? How exactly did the process do such a thing? I need to know everything before offering my assistance.

[ He's silent for a few moments; he never even really explained the process to Luke before, despite any prodding on his replica's part - perhaps that was a self-preservation instinct kicking in or maybe it was just a disinclination to worrying her. He'd never thought Dist would be the person he wound up explaining this to, though. ] As I said, there was no body to work with where Luke was concerned; it disappeared entirely while freeing Lorelei into the Fon Belt. Working with Lorelei while focusing Seventh Fonons through my body, we were able to change that fact but... well, I guess you could say it took part of me with it. [ Asch really isn't very good with the more technical aspect of the whole thing, though. ]
