[Clearly, redheads have never been in short supply here.

As a result of this fact, seeing Asch sitting at a table with that smug "I'm better than you" look of his shouldn't really take too many people by surprise. Oh, sure, the lack of any discernible agitation is probably a little disconcerting as is the presence of a deck of playing cards set upon the table within easy reach of his right hand. Of course, this Asch is a little different from most, missing anger notwithstanding; it isn't too hard to tell he is a fair bit older, somewhere within his early-to-mid twenties.

Regardless, he is Asch. And he? He is challenging you to a game of poker.

swallowfury, Asch here is definitely not reset, so he retains any CR he had from the last time I was around a couple years back. Of course, he's not going to come out and just let you know who he is; he feels like being a bit of a jerk, so even if you do know him, he's going to leave you guessing. Especially. If you're a certain replica. Why? Because he can. ~~And, no, he's not going to deal cards to kids. But he might go into papa mode on them.~~]

Oop-- careful there!

[ Luke has an equally bright smile as she scoots the two of them over and helps hold Aidan closer, fixing Asch with a gaze not dissimilar to their own mother's. ]

That's what?

[You realize, Luke, that Asch is going to try to hold the squirming Aidan, yes?]

How...?

[ That was the idea, papa. ♥ Luke makes sure Aidan is secure in Asch's arms before sitting back to watch. ]

Special replica magic?

[Aidan calms down as soon as he's in Asch's arms, snuggling against his papa. Asch, meanwhile, is quite content to hold his son, running a finger along the boy's nose - which earns a small giggle.] But I wasn't-

Here? There's one good thing to living in a place where other "yous" pop up. [ Luke is positively radiant at seeing Aidan have the chance to greet his father after worrying he'd never be able to. And she might even be trying not to laugh a bit. Asch the Bloody, tweaking a child's nose... ]

[Asch is really not sure what to say about the possibility of his son learning who he is through seeing other versions of himself - wouldn't that mean he'd view any Asch as his father? - so, instead, he just focuses on rubbing Aidan's back, letting out a small chuckle when Aidan burrows himself into his shirt.]

[ Both Asch's pause and the adorable scene in front of her was reason for Luke to do a sideways shuffle until her shoulder just touched Asch's. "I don't think you need to worry, Asch. We've gone over who his papa is almost every day. Like I explained to him, his papa is the man with hair the color them -being other Asches-, but with his mama's face!" ]

[...If he wasn't holding Aidan, Asch would be facepalming right now. Facepalming times infinity.

"Aside from the fact that they have my face, too... you do realize your features are..." Luke, your face is more feminine than Asch's these days.]

[ Like most other plans of Luke's, this one was equally thought out and implemented. But hey, it worked.

"Of course! Technically we all have the same face, but Aidan only needed to recognize the telling point: I smile!" Sorry, Asch, but she doesn't get that. ]

[Luke. How often does Asch smile? Not smirk. Not sort-of-kind-of turn up the corners of his mouth. Smile. Really smile the way you do. Fail.

"Luke. You do realize your face does not look like a man's face anymore, right?" Did it ever, Asch? Did it ever?]

[ We're talking about the ~~blond~~ blind leading the blind here, Asch. For in the mind of Luke, Asch has three faces: Rawrface, Permanent Scowl, and Smile (aka Smirk). Of those three, Asch uses the first two a lot less these days. See? Luke Logic!

"What do you mean? It's the same as yours. I think our eyebrows are even the same length." That's debatable. And now she's inching closer to try measuring Asch's eyebrows... ]

[Luke and logic do not belong in the same sentence unless the words between them are "has no."

"Your bone structure is feminine."

Meanwhile, Aidan has started playing with Asch's shirt, so papa turns his attention back to the kidlet.]

[ So cruel. But can't the same be said of Asch and tact?

"Girls have different skulls too?" Thankfully Aidan is preoccupied, so he won't see mama poking different parts of her face with a confused look. ]

[Asch is proud of that fact, though. "Your jawline, your cheekbones..."

And Asch trailed off because he's playing with Aidan now, watching as the little boy grabs at his hands and giggles.]

[ ...that is not something to be proud of.

For a moment Luke runs a couple fingers over her cheek in an attempt to compare the contours to Asch's face, but failing that she just leans against his shoulder. Seeing them interact held more interest anyway. ]

[Asch ignores her poking in favor of playing with Aidan, who is having a blast tugging at his papa's hands.]

[ Ah well. Luke runs her hand through Aidan's short hair with a laugh. "I don't get what he sees in hands." ]

["He's a child; I'd imagine it's part of his exploration to understand the world around him."]

[ "So it's not a strange fascination he has? I thought he might be..." ]

["I seem to recall Mother mentioning I went through a similar phase. It's natural; children want to understand the world, but the world as they understand it exists only in what they can see, feel, hear, taste, or smell." Meanwhile, Asch pulls one hand back slightly, resulting in Aidan looking up with his mouth in a surprised "o"; Asch raises his hand and brings it to the top of Aidan's head, brushing his hair back. This results in another round of giggles from their child.]

[ Luke watches this exchange with a quiet awe of her own, then offers a hand for Aidan to play with so they can take turns in grasping each other's fingers. "...only in what they've experienced for theirself, huh? When you put it like that, it explains a lot." ]

["Exactly. It was much the same with you, wasn't it?"]

[ An almost guilty look crosses Luke's face briefly before disappearing behind a smile. "Ah, I suppose it was." ]

["First it takes earning some experience, then understanding the world comes eas-" He cuts off because Aidan has now decided he wants to start climbing up to Asch's head... by using his shirt as leverage, of course. He's not doing a very good job, and Asch is watching with a bemused expression.

After a few failed attempts, Asch discreetly lifts him with one arm. This earns a bright smile out of Aidan, who not only feels he has achieved GREAT SUCCESS but also reaches out to grab onto Asch's hair lightly to inspect it. Then he hugs his papa's head. Yes.]

[ ... The only way Luke can keep from bursting out into peels of laughter is by burying her face in both hands, which lasts all of maybe ten seconds. And when Aidan latches onto papa... ]

Hurray! You did it!

[ She joins in from the side, wrapping an arm around Aidan and Asch's head. ]
