Asch agreeing to a drink with Emperor Peony? Luke studying more or less willingly? Asch chuckling? Uncle Jade?

It would appear Abyss Dressing Room has inexplicably stumbled upon the four signs of the apocalypse. This must explain why there is suddenly a horde of monsters poised to attack. Redheads! Denizens! Defend your nexus!

...Just be careful with those artes. Looks like the apocalypse is a lot fuzzier and noisier than anticipated. As such, every arte used spawns at least two dozen cheagles. And Mystic Artes spawn about fifty.

[ Shh;;; Sol has a very short attention span that's further complicated by having to hit F5 a million times to send one comment. orz Ignoring the previous fail, Luke is too busy gawking to notice a stray sacred beasty plummeting from the sky until it nails him smack in the back of the head, sending him face-first into the cheagle pile from throwing off his balance. ]

This isn't a time for a summoning spell or whatever!

[ Luke is unimpressed. ] DO you think I'd purposely make cheagles appear or something?! That's definitely not what was supposed to happen.

[ Seriously. Seriously. What the hell. How the heck could a fonic arte for thunder mess up that badly? ]

You mean you didn't? Then what are all these guys doing here?! [ It sure as hell wasn't his Lightning Blade that had acted as a magnet for the cheagles. Or at least, it wasn't through any fault of his - he had done the arte in the exact same way as he always had! ]

[hymnotic]

How the hell am I supposed to know? [ It's not like he did anything different in his casting; he'd been doing it this way for years now.

Which means it's time to try again, of course. This time with... ]

Divine spear, run my enemies through! Holy Lance!

[ And just like before, the glyph appears under the enemies... but rather than spears of light, there's a convergence of cheagles assembled in the shape of those spears. Cheagles of all sorts of colors. ]

...You've got to be kidding me. What is this, some kind of punishment for not going to see them?

Stupid question, I guess. [ That must bring the cheagle count to well above fifty and, once Luke hauls himself upright after much struggling to avoid hurting any of the creatures, at least calf-high in cheagle pile's center. He'll be grateful the monsters are stunned later. ]

Ugh, this is crazy! Maybe... [ All their artes had been Arcane or higher, so Luke goes with a lower caliber attack-- ]

Havoc Strike! [ ...only to have a group of cheagles POOF in where his foot hits the nearest Ligan. This face forever. ]

[hymnotic]

[ There really are just no words. ]

How the hell are we supposed to fight like this?!

We could always run.

[ Not that he wants to just up and leave all the little irritants behind... Meaning it's on to plan B! Luke snatches up the nearest cheagle that looks large enough and turns it towards the monsters before giving it a swift smack in the back of its head, making it shoot fire. ]

How's cheagle power sound?

Oh, come on, do you even realize how long that'll take to kill these things? [ Seriously, what's that fire hitting for? 1 damage? ]

Ah, damnit! [ If you can't electrocute them, just beat 'em to a pulp, right? And so Luke dashes in. ]

[ Not the most practical method, but whacking one of them made him feel better about the insanity. And for a place that thrived on being weird, this took the cake. ]

Hey, shouldn't we try to get these guys out of the way first? [ Because really, you can't rollerskate fight in a cheagle herd! ]

[hymnotic]

Yeah? And how do you propose we do that? I doubt they can really understand us.

You could... [ Use Turbulence, if he knew it, except that would just bury them with more cheagles. ] ...never mind.

[hymnotic]

[ It's too bad that's one of Asch's spells. Not that it'd work right now. ] Best to just fight as best as we can, right? Otherwise they're dead, anyway.

At this rate, I'm going to end up hitting them instead. [ He plods through the fuzzy carpet as quick as is possible to slash the singed Ligan in the face with a careful upward swing. ]

[hymnotic]

Don't complain when you don't have a better idea, Asch. [ Yes, he's totally comparing Luke's complaints to Asch; he may be romantically involved with his Asch but that doesn't mean they don't have their squabbles still.

Meanwhile, Luke will take on the Grimza again, punching it again and pushing it back, pursuing as he does. ]

[ Luke finishes his strike combo against the Ligan, having to resist the urge to finish with any artes at all -man, when was the last time he had done that?- and turns to give the other Luke a look. ] That's just low!

Hey, you're the one complaining~ [ He says this with a grin just as he finishes kicking the Grimza back again. ]

Complaining would've been like this-- [ His eyebrows go down, down, down into an Asch-scowl and he switches his sword over to his right hand, thrusting forward like their original tends to do while making a point. ] What the hell's the matter with you, dreck, turning my battle into a cheagle dumping ground?!

[hymnotic]

[ Luke nearly chokes before letting out some laughter. That was a pretty accurate impersonation there. ] Maybe back then, sure; he's a little less likely to use 'dreck' in there recently, though.

[ Let's just say Asch leaves one heck of an impression, not all of it good. But Luke's wording is hard to ignore even during a fight. ] "Back then"? Mind explaining once these jerks are history? [ Right now isn't the best time when the other Ligan has turned its attention to the frightened cheagles. ]

[hymnotic]

[ Suddenly, there's a Luke standing right on top of a now-flattened Ligun. ] Well, if you really want me to, sure.

If you don't mind. Sounds pretty interesting. [ He finishes dispatching his own foe with a solid uppercut to its jaw. ] It's amazing that you fight with your bare hands and with fonic artes.

Heh... well, it's kind of a preference I picked up after everything, y'know? [ Said, of course, as he pushes back another of the monsters. ]

Yeah, but for you to be so proficient at it... I don't think I could ever learn a new way of fighting so quickly. [ Somebody is under the mistaken impression that they're the same age, not that he has a reason to think otherwise. ]

"Quickly," huh.
