3 Fonons: The structure of a meeting.
((OOC: Putting this first so it makes sense. Jade is meeting Guy after planning with Asch here and here. We don't have a specific Guy per say so if you want to step up feel free, more than one would be fabulous actually, and also just because Jade is on his way to meet someone, feel free to hold him up~ The two are also looking for fonists so if you want to be a part of that too, feel free, this can be largely hand-waved, and this post is just for if someone did want to play part of it out.))
[It was early in the day, and Jade was already up and moving quickly along. The eventual goal was the inn, but Jade had also needed to take care of his shopping, stop by the cafe for some food, and of course study more at the library, so it was quite clear he wasn't making the inn first priority, especially since there were so many people to talk to. He'd been thinking hard on the prototype schematics for the fontech he had found and was fairly sure the design was solid enough to keep anyone from dying via fonon-separation. While it was amusing to play with Asch on it seeming risky, this was serious business because he was not interested in sacrificing people for any reason.
At the end of the day though, Jade did have a contingency plan in case things went awry, and it was something he hadn't even discussed with Anise because he knew it wouldn't be well-received.]

Watcha researching Colonel~?
no subject
[While he was sure this was his Anise, a little humor never hurt anyone. Closing the book, the subject being reactions between living beings and adverse fonon reactions, Jade then looked up with a smile.]
How are you today?
no subject
[Anise shrugged her shoulders playfully, a smirk one her lips...that was, until she caught the title of the book he was reading.]
I'm doing well.
[Not even a beat afterwards.]
...That's some pretty heavy reading right there. What's it for exactly?
no subject
[He trailed off, noting the abrupt change in her expression and followed her gaze when she brought it up, red eyes falling onto the book.]
This? Heavy reading? I find it quite light, dear.
[He lifted the book, letting it fall to the table with a loud whap.]
I was helping Asch look into researching a way home~
[Of course, he intended to play this off as nothing for as long as possible.]
no subject
[Of course when he drops the book she tried not to jump, instead ending up going rigid for a moment before relaxing and giving him a pout.]
Is that so, what exactly does this research involve per say?
no subject
...I am researching what might happen in the rare event that something goes wrong, love. We are doing something with a large amount of fonons and replicas, a number of safety measure need to be taken because a reaction could destroy...everything potentially.
[He was leaving out the fact that this could be neutralized easily, provided that someone such as himself donate fonons to stabilize the reaction.]
no subject
Wait a minute...Dear?...Love? Saying that in public no less.
This was bad.]
It's getting easier and easier to tell when you're up to no good in your old age, you know that right?
[Anise crossed her arms, pinning him with a look that said everything.]
no subject
[Which wasn't a good thing in this case. Usually it was though; she could tell what he needed without it having to be expressly said.
Yet, there were of course times like these in which it reminded him that letting someone too close made it harder to lie to them.]
Anise, I'd argue that I'm always up to no good~ I suppose in this case it would be what may need to be done if an unwanted reaction occurs. It can be stabilized, thankfully.
no subject
[Of course she pays attention, if she didn't and missed important things like this she would have been in deep trouble or a goner by now.
Don't make her ask Asch, you know she will and it won't be pretty.
Pretty hilarious probably.]no subject
I can promise you that no one will be harmed. I couldn't bear it if something happened to you. I also wouldn't want anything to happen to anyone else involved, Anise.
[He gave a small pull, indicating he wanted her closer. While he was sure this wouldn't placate her, he didn't want her to worry. While he had fought tooth and nail for her back home, if she couldn't return there; it wouldn't matter much what they did here.]
no subject
It's a trap!][Anise looked very unsure as he flashed a smile and pulled her closer. Something was still off, she could feel it.]
And just how do you plan on guaranteeing that?
no subject
[He leaned, pressing a quick and chaste kiss to her lips.]
I do want to make sure everyone is safe. We're going to do physicals on everyone, and we're developing a machine to help stabilize the fonons, as well as dispel them if something goes wrong.
You shouldn't worry so.
no subject
Okay....If you say so then.
Did you need my help?
no subject
[Pulling over a notebook, he also took the opportunity to pull her around to his front and guide her hips onto his lap, resting his chin on her shoulder. The notebook had a lot notes for the formulae he was looking into and checking for the protection field and the safest rate he could use it with which to dispel fonons without hurting the replicas that might be present.]
no subject
Would you explain the exact situation you hope to create?
no subject
That and he suspected this experiment was going to take enough fonons to keep Grand Chokmah afloat for a month all told, between the fonons gathered to try to open the way, power the fon machines, and then try to use more to scatter the mass if things go awry.]
I believe the best intend is a fonic barrier that will repel the gathered fonons, rather like a containment field so that the seventh fonons that will inevitably be acquired won't attract the seventh fonons of the various replicas present, which will lead to fonon decay and separation. Things to avoid if we're to believe Asch~
[A joke, but Jade was deathly serious in making sure they weren't throwing their lives away, intentionally or not.]
We also need to be able to acquire a secondary, smallwe mass of fonons and alter their vibration to one that will quickly disperse the primary mass in case something goes wrong~
[Simple, yes?]
no subject
We need to find the Key of Lorelei! Surely that would help and make things considerably less dangerous and more manageable, right? And since Asch is in on this it should be even easier!
no subject
I am reminded why I am so taken by you sometimes~
Yes, the Key of Lorelei will be the perfect tool, we should attempt to track it down~ Do you have any leads?
[He certainly didn't, which was part of the reason why he hadn't spent much time looking for it yet.]
no subject
Well...There is always Luke and Asch to ask, right? One of them is bound to have it?
no subject
[The whole meeting had been fairly strange, what with the redhead's noble raiment and extra efforts at being mysterious. That Asch had come to him in the first place raised even more questions than it answered. Guy hadn't exactly been accomodating of the former God-General in the past...]
[The blond raised his hand in a wave.] Hey, Jade! What brings you here?
[If this really was the person he'd been told to speak with, perhaps Jade could shed some light where Asch had failed. ...Then again, such hopes were probably in vain.]
no subject
Guy, I didn't expect anyone here today~
[Though he quickly let that thought die away as a smile grew. The fact he was here might be a sign.]
As for myself, I merely thought I might pick up a hobby to spend some time on. I was considering...Fontech.
[He did want to keep from getting every person he saw involved, obviously, so now he was fishing.]
no subject
You didn't expect anyone? At the inn?
[The Colonel picking up a hobby... Fontech?? And then it hit him. Guy's confused expression smoothed into a smile as he propped a hand on one hip.] Never thought I'd hear you say something like that. But if it's fontechnology you're interested in, then you're in luck. I've actually been working on a little something for a friend of mine.
[Not that he and Asch were close enough to be called "friends" exactly.]
no subject
[Jade's own smile grew more approving at Guy's reply, obviously they were on either a huge coincidence or Guy had caught on right away, which was good. It meant he could likely find this Guy reliable and this could only help them both.]
Always the giving sort I see~ Did you want to take a walk? I'll treat you to some coffee.
[Opening the door, Jade motioned for Guy to lead and that he would follow him out quickly, they were heading a familiar cafe, but he was quite sure the server he thought of when he had decided upon it would either be off or scheduled later, which would be ideal actually because he was sure tension would be thing between the two.]
no subject
[The real question was what exactly the Colonel was planning. And planning with Asch of all people. He got the feeling, from Jade's trademark seal of approval if nothing else, that he'd found the right man and was essentially walking himself into a trap.]
You're being awfully generous this morning, Jade. But sure, why not? A walk would be nice. Good for your aching joints, too, I'll bet.
[All said in a cheerful manner, rather than a jab. Taking point, Guy headed outside into the sunshine.]
no subject
[As they walked, Jade pondered at length how to exactly discuss their project. While Jade could be perfectly clinical with most people, those that managed to get close to him gave him a little trouble with this. This was compounded by the amusing fact that while he knew Guy very well, he didn't know this Guy. Which reminded him that even he could fall into the trappings of the human mind.]
Why don't you tell me a little about yourself~? I'd like to get a feel for who I'm working with.
This icon without the blatant trolling. Because he's just dodging a few spoilers.
[Oh, well, this was strange. Guy knew well enough how different people could be here, but having to introduce himself to someone he's been on somewhat reasonable terms with for the past two or three years just seemed unnatural. He raised a hand to his chin in thought.]
Well, let's see now... I used to serve the household of His Grace, Duke Fabre until about three years ago. I enjoy studying fontechnology and reading travel brochures, and am presently in the employ of His Majesty, Emperor Peony the Ninth.
[Just don't ask what he's doing now, please. Although it's quite easy to guess. The fact that Guy hadn't offered anything worthy of spoiler labels was entirely intentional, as well. He wasn't too willing to reveal more than that unless Jade gave him something to work with first.]
Sure sure Guy! Not trolling...
[Jade shrugged after a moment and pulls open the door to the cafe.]
I am quite glad you are so well-read, it has saved us a few times. As for myself, you came into His Majesty's employment in the range of 4, or maybe 5 years ago~ I seem to be growing senile...
[Stepping inside after Guy, Jade looking around for a redhead and was pleased he did not see one.]
I do believe you know me, but as it is only fair. I am Colonel Jade Curtiss, Third Divison, Malkuth Imperial Forces~
