[Physically she's still a little worked up, breathing somewhat quickly, sitting on just this side of shaky. The gels helped with the pain. There's still a fog in her head, and that's making it hard to calm down completely.]

[He's up and moving before Nephry has a chance to respond.]

[He returns soon with the thickest blanket he could find and a mug of hot water. It's only after making sure that Nephry is warm and comfortable that he sits down again, nodding at her words.]

[Hot water isn't the best thing ever. It will do, though. The warmth and the sense of comfort (from Jade, of all people!) help immensely. Nephry sips the water a bit, thinking - glasses and the scarf still in her lap]

A nexus of worlds. Many people we know are here. There can be multiples of one person, although they aren't replicas. [The next part is always the hardest to explain.] Not all of them come from the same version of Auldrant as we do.

Perhaps it would be best to use an example. You were transported here right after being attacked, correct? In my case, I was transported here right before confronting Van in Auldrant. The attack on you had already happened long ago. We were plucked from different points in time.

[Nephry shakes her head again. Still a bad idea, that one. The example does make things clearer, to the point where they can be clear anyway.]

It doesn't seem possible. ...But I don't think you would lie to me, not about this. [Not right after someone broke into her home and attacked her. When her eyes focus on the items in her lap, she gives Jade an apologetic look.]

Haha. Are you worried about something like that? [He takes the bloodied scarf away from her.] However, I'm afraid that it's not as simple as merely being plucked from different points in time. Some of these people come from vastly different versions of Auldrant. I've met a Luke who was raised as a Malkuthian instead of Kimlascan.

[Once she's had the chance to rest for a while? All of this will make a lot more coherent sense.]

There aren't enough supplies in this house. I need to get some more gels and bandages. [He gets up to leave.] Try get some sleep. I'll be back soon.

[What is that smile? It has the immediate effect of making her want to comply.]

[It won't be hard. As soon as she's lying on that couch instead of sitting, she'll drift off.]

[True to his word, he's back in around fifteen minutes, with more first aid equipment along with the bag of groceries he had dropped. He pauses briefly at Nephry's side to check on her, making sure she's sleeping soundly.]

[She is. Out cold, glasses fallen to the floor and expression peaceful. Seems she feels safe here after all.]

[He gently picks up her fallen glasses and puts them on the coffee table, before heading into the kitchen to prepare some food. When Nephry wakes up, she'll find a steaming bowl of soup waiting for her.]

[The smell of the soup may well be what wakes her up again. She's slow to come to awareness and sit up, looking around for...something.]

[And out comes Jade from the kitchen with the soup on a tray. He smiles slightly as he sits down besides Nephry, handing it over.]

Are you feeling a bit better?

[Jade. Cementing everything she believed, for a moment, was just a dream. She hasn't simply fallen asleep on her sofa after all. As he sits, she straightens, taking the tray from him.]

Thank you. I do feel a little better, other than a headache.

Eat up. [He looks at her carefully, checking on her bandages.] You can have another gel later.

[For her body, it's rather late at night to be eating. So what she does manage to eat is more for the comfort, less the nourishment. ...The gesture is still appreciated.]

[Fool her twice, shame on her - she's not going to shake her head again. Instead she puts a hand carefully against the side of it.]
