[Clearly, redheads have never been in short supply here.

As a result of this fact, seeing Asch sitting at a table with that smug "I'm better than you" look of his shouldn't really take too many people by surprise. Oh, sure, the lack of any discernible agitation is probably a little disconcerting as is the presence of a deck of playing cards set upon the table within easy reach of his right hand. Of course, this Asch is a little different from most, missing anger notwithstanding; it isn't too hard to tell he is a fair bit older, somewhere within his early-to-mid twenties.

Regardless, he is Asch. And he? He is challenging you to a game of poker.

swallowfury, Asch here is definitely not reset, so he retains any CR he had from the last time I was around a couple years back. Of course, he's not going to come out and just let you know who he is; he feels like being a bit of a jerk, so even if you do know him, he's going to leave you guessing. Especially. If you're a certain replica. Why? Because he can. ~~And, no, he's not going to deal cards to kids. But he might go into papa mode on them.~~]

[He notices, but he doesn't say anything for now.]

[ Dammit, Asch. Fine. She'll go back to snuggling against him without a word. ~~Secretly pouting against his chest.~~ ]

[He knows she's pouting. And after a few moments, he seemingly off-handedly says something.] Hm. Guess I should have wagered it that time after all.

[ And she knows well enough to be suspicious of innocent comments, but curiosity gets the better of her and up comes her head. ] Wager what?

[He moves his left hand a bit, moving his ring finger to indicate the ring he's wearing.] I was short on gald, someone was interested. I was just thinking, maybe I should've taken him up on that bet. Certainly would have made getting money together for that ferry ride a little easier.

[ For a moment she just stares, then, probably as expected, promptly explodes into a tirade. Watch for flailing fists. ] What's that supposed to mean, huh?! You'd trade your ring -our promise- for a little money when in a day you could make more than any merchant could offer?!

Well, it was over a game of cards; I could have gotten at least ten times market value on it. [Oh, Luke, you're so predictable. And Asch is dodging your flailing fists deftly.]

You--! [ The little comment about cards after his joke early doesn't sit well with her. At. All. Instead of flailing about in pure anger, she aims a punch right at his nose. ]

[Unfortunately for her, not only does he catch her fist before it connects, but she's also punching with her dominant hand. Which happens to be her left hand. Which still doesn't have her ring on. Asch smirks.] Hm? What are you so angry about? Seeing this, I didn't think it'd be such a big deal.

[ Between not being able to land a blow and Asch's continual smugness, she hovers just in front of his face, looking ready to snap. Quite literally, with her teeth. ] Back to making assumptions again, are you? Bet you think I'd run off and find somebody else while you were busy peddling your ring for ferry money, huh?!

[ She's still trying to shove her fist hard enough to connect. ]

[Asch is going to push back against her fist now, and that smirk is just taunting now; get the feeling he's teasing you, Luke?]

[ Not yet; she's still in rage-mode. Asch had better be paying attention to how she's shifting. There's one distinct advantage to being a girl that Luke has no trouble exploiting when mad. ]

[But if she tries to exploit it, he'll forcibly stop her from within her own mind.]

[ Hope he's fast enough: because once straddling one his legs, Luke grips the front of his shirt with her free hand and shoves HARD, using the leverage to direct a knee right at his groin. ]

[He stops her just as she makes initial contact but before she can really put pressure. "Nice try."]

[ Being completely immobile makes her want to spit, but damn if she can't do that either. All she can do is try to wrestle with him mentally. "Bastard!" ]

[That just makes him raise an eyebrow. "Stop for a minute. Breathe. Take in your surroundings."]

[ Huh? Why in the world was he lecturing her on their surroundings... Then there's a flash of realization across her face. "You..." Followed by her turning just as pink as before, though for a different reason this time. ]

[He's still a smug bastard. "Are you calm now?"]

[ When is he not? "I still wouldn't mind decking you a good one. Does that count as calm?" She gives a little mental wriggle; this isn't the most comfortable way to sit. ]

[He makes her move so her arms are around his neck and she's resting more comfortably on him. "Oh? So you're going to try to tell me you weren't planning a similar prank?"]

[ That gets a huff for being better but not what she was after. "Mine wasn't intended to be mean or make you mad. But now I don't feel like telling you about it." It's hard to snub someone when you're parked on them and unable to move, though she tries. ]

["In fairness, mine wasn't intended to make you made, either. You just happened to take it that way." He really only intended to tease you, Luke. Asch just has his own definition of teasing, clearly.

Regardless, he shifts his head just slightly to kiss at the corner of her mouth.]

[ "How did you think I'd react to hearing you considered pawning your ring?" In retrospect, it's obvious that was his goal the entire time, but she's still too skeeved to admit flipping out over a joke. And not being able to move doesn't mean she can't avoid looking at him. Ignoring you~ ]

["Pretty much exactly the way you did. Thanks for the entertainment."]
