What's up, everyone?

So, it seems the community import system is now able to handle imports for over 100,000 comments, so I've put the import in for

abyssdressing. The entries and tags have shipped themselves over already and we're just waiting for our turn in the queue for comment imports. Once that's done, we'll have everything from the old community backed up onto here.

You might notice some strangeness with the tags at the moment; this is because I'm going through them to organize all of the characters name under the "characters: " multilevel heading. I'm about halfway done right now and should finish off the rest a little later. I just wanted to give a little heads up there.

That's really all there is to it. Well, other than:

abyssdressing is open for business, so feel free to post away if you'd like!

Hey there; I just have a couple things to point out here for everyone as we get this place started up. ~~[ Breathes in that new community air. ]~~

First of all, you may have noticed the rules are now found as a sticky post within the community itself; this is to keep them readily available at all times for absolutely everyone, that way there's a quick and easy reference. Rules are important, after all, since they keep things running smoothly. They're also really there to help ensure everyone can have fun.

Second, you may have also noticed that we are currently lacking in posts since I just put this whole thing together today. Fear not! Once the community import tool is implemented to Dreamwidth, I am going to look into what needs to be done to import all of our old posts and comments into this new community, that way everyone has a nice reference of all of our old roleplay moments. Unfortunately, this may leave us without icons on the comments... although that tended to happen with the LiveJournal version as people ran out of their paid time, too. This is the best I will be able to offer to preserve the memories of those great posts.

However, it may take a bit to get the entire community imported in. For one thing, the import feature is still really backed up at the moment since everyone is scrambling to import their personal journals from LiveJournal to Dreamwidth. For another, I will not be able to import our comments in right away when the community import tool is implemented. This is because the cutoff for comment importation will initially be set at 100,000 and the LiveJournal version of this community has almost 200,000 comments posted to it as of this post. The moment they remove the restrictions on community imports, however, I will get right to importing the comments over. Due to the restriction, I am wondering if it might be better to hold off on importing the entries entirely, but... well, feel free to weigh in on that.

For any community to run smoothly, certain rules are necessary. Most of these rules are really just common sense where roleplaying is concerned, but we felt it would be best to put the rules right out in the open so we can avoid any trouble.

We already have a Getting-to-Know-Me/Player-Preferences Meme posted for your enjoyment. Go out there and plot! Make friends! Whisper about how bizarre the DR's moderator is! Just don't step on the selenias, if you value your life. ♥

It has been brought to my attention that some of our players have been having issues in being dragged into things they don't wish to take part in. To keep this place fun for all, I would like to remind everyone that to involve other players in a fight or scene without their consent is godmoding, which is clearly stated to be against the community rules. If you are uncertain if something you plan to/are doing with a character is godmoding, refer to this definition. When in doubt: Ask the person you intend to thread with.

Please remember that not everyone is comfortable playing every kind of thread or with every type of character: You are not obligated to reply to a post or comment that makes you, as a player, uncomfortable. Everyone should feel free to post without the worry that they may end up negatively affecting their character.

Before replying to posts, it would be good to consider the following; the type or age of the character to which you are replying, the consequences of interacting with that particular character, and most importantly, the feelings of the player behind the character. We're all here to have fun, and while sometimes it's disappointing to not get the reaction you want from people, keep in mind that not everyone wants certain characters/situations forced upon them.

Perhaps to avoid such issues in the future, we can regularly have a discussion post like this or if preferred, an OOC community. On that note, you are welcome and encouraged to use this post to state your opinion on how things are going in

abyssdressing. Not everyone is going to agree with things said, so do keep it civil. If there is something you would prefer to discuss in private, I can always be reached through PMs.

Congratulations, everyone! It's been a whole month since we first started this place and we're still going strong! I hope you all have been enjoying it as much I've loved seeing everyone playing! =D

Now, I would like to take this time to address any questions or concerns you may have. ALSO! If you have any suggestions on how to better our community, please do tell!

I would also like encourage people to branch out more and comment to people you've never spoken with before or those who don't have a lot of comments, even if it is just with a different character journal. Also, please try not to ignore people who have commented to your posts! I understand this is just a game, but also understand that there are people with feeling behind these characters and sometimes it hurts a great deal to be ignored.

Finally, if you are interested in our wiki but need help, I will be happy to link to a few sites that have been of help for me. :3
